the 89 is going to have rear abs so there will be a pickup in the diff and there is a toothed wheel inside the housing so the computer can get wheel speed. You should be able to just leave the sensor to plug the hole. If the door code was H9 it should be a limited slip rear end. clutches are about $150 from the dealer, i just did a set not too long ago. You mine as well do this and check the ring/pinion and axle seals/bearings while your at it. Axle bearings will be much easier to do with the axle out of the truck. Im not sure how it will work out but make sure you pull the drive shaft from the 89 donor as well. I think the one for the 9" will be a little shorter.
