I have a 93 XLT who's rear window just crapped out on me. I don't think it's the motor, because you can hear it working when you turn the key. The window is stuck up so all I have to work from inside the vehicle. Any ideas? Is it a gear gone bad? How does one replace a gear?

look i'm having window problems myself and from all the threads i've read here it could be your gear

first you need to take off the access panel to the tailgate and there are four nuts holding your window up.

they should be 7/16, a ratchet wrench is best imo.if you can get someone to help you it best also. remove the nuts to release

the glass from the actuator and remove the arms from the bracket on the bottom of the window. this will allow you to lower the glass. CAREFULLY lower it down and you should be able to open the gate. now... you can access the motor

thanks to steve83 this should help you also

good luck and hoped this helps

time to crawl over the seat and remove the access panel

on my 95 window was stuck 3 inches down

an arm slider had caught in a rusted out track

had to replace the silders and 1 track

still available from Ford

also had to rewire from the dash switch back

several write ups on rewiring for the rear window on the site

I chose to install a relay and run the wiring inside

if I have any more wiring go bad along the frame rail the rest is going inside

If it is a rusted track two people one working the switch and the other handling

the window can get it down to lowe rthe tailgate

CAUTION

person with their hands inside the tailgate needs to be very careful easy to lose fingers
