Mustang to Bronco engine swap?

I have a 96 Bronco that had a 5.0 in it, well it still has it but its blown, and I am most likely going to need a replacement engine. I've priced out a reman engine at napa that will cost me about $1,900 which isn't to bad but it is still expensive for a student like myself. My dad however has a 89 mustang with a 5.0 in it and I was wondering if any one has ever done a mustang to bronco engine swap or if it is even a viable option?

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated

My info says that a car 5.0 and a truck 5.0 are the same block. Mind you, BLOCK. I'd say that the manifold, headers, and just about everything else is different. It'd probably be a lot easier to get a new remaned one, simply because of all teh time it'd take to rebuild and swap parts. But again, that's if everything's different like I'm led to believe.

Also the 89 5.0 has a different cam with flat tap lifters and a different firing order (unless its an h.o.) than the 5.0's made from 94-96 they have a 351w firing order and a roller cam and roller lifters. Probily better off springing for a long block. ATK and Jasper are alittle cheaper and have a better warrinty. Check out there websites.

If you want to put the mustang engine in there all you would have to do is verify that it's the same fireing order (ie. ** engine) and put the Bronco intake on it. If you're confedent that you know how to rebuild an engine and have the tools I would say go to summit or jegs and get a re-ring kit and throw new rings, bearings and seals on it. While you're at that you should also go ahead and get a new timing set. I rebuilt my 351 for right at $700 and that put a new cam speced to my intake and heads and that included machine shop as well. Figured I would put in my $.02 Also, try Ebay.

i tossed a 5.0 ** block into my bronco ( bored .30 over , port polished heads, .580 cam) from my friends mustang. my bronco was a 1990 5.0 L , the firing order was different. i had to change a few things not many because i wanted to keep my EFI and not switch to carbed. other than that its a simple swap.
