im getting a aod tranny from a 89 for cheap.any problem with putting it in my 86.the guy said the torq. conv. is bad and thats it.also getting the doors with all the power acc.to go with it

unless your 86 has a B-W 13-56 t-case, the shifter linkage and mounting bracket for the t-case will be different than the 89 model. JSM84

Yes, your 86 most likely has the B-W 13-45, whereas 87 and up switched over to the B-W 13-56 model. They look similar, but the shifter linkages are quite different. You'll have to look for the tag on the back of the t-case for the model number. It is very hard to find the correct linkage and bracket for the AOD/ B-W 13-56 combo, since that was only used for a few years.

if you're just swapping the tranny, the 89 should have the mounting hole for your 86 shifter bracket. IT may even be on the tranny/t-case adapter. I've only worked on a couple of those, JSM84

so it was a diff t case but i got the linkege and the t case so every thing else should be good right? the drive shfts are the same right?i hope so cant afford anything else.i did get a 56mm bbk t.b.with the stuff though but when i put it on it ran for a min then i had to shut it off to adjust the idel and then no start.any comments on that?maybe tps senser or what? thanks for the help

so i went to do the swap and the t case is a little diff. and the drive shafts are going to be two long but the main probolem is i was told that the output shaft is diff frome year to year so im going to have to swap out the tailshaft.any comments
