I had some starting problems, and here is a list of parts I replaced to fix the problem. It ended up being the neutral safety switch found underneath the truck in the front. I replaced the solenoid switch, the ignition switch, and the NSS. You can probably test to see if it is the solenoid by taking a screwdriver and completeing the circuit, if it works it should start their. All parts are relatively cheap though if you have the time and money. I have a 1987 Bronco btw, w/ a 351 windsor. Let me know if it helps, b/c I remember turning the key and getting nothing at all.
It would be helpful if you would elaborate a bit about what is going on. What does and does not happen and what you have tried so far.i have a 89 bronco...my buddy told me that sometimes the z bracket breaks and when i turn the key it will not start...well my z bracket isnt broken and i put it back together and it still does not start....what can i do to make a quick fix
If you are turning the key and the rod doesn't move, the most likely problem is the link between the key cylinder and the rod is broken. The fix requires taking the column apart to replace the link and the procedure is different between a tilt and non-tilt column. You can verify that the link is broken by removing the shroud that is between the steering wheel and the instrument panel. If the link is broken you will be able to move the rod by grabbing hold of it and pushing it all the way down to the Start position. It is spring loaded so when you let go it will return to the Run position. If the engine starts, you can turn it off by pulling it back up one notch to the Off position. I don't recommend running your truck that way, but it will certainly work in a pinch.the rod that goes down to the switch doesnt really move and it doens hit the switch.. i was wonderin if there was some other eay to fix it if that was the problem
