My rear window motor doesnt work. The window is stuck up. Is there anyways to get it down without the motor so i can open my tailgate, and if so, can i get it back up? Is it hard to do? Also for the future, where can i get a cheap window motor?

first off it could be something other than your motor. How do you know for sure that it is the motor that is broken and not the switches or safety **** switch.

if you test the switches and they are fine then check for power going to the motor when the switch is used, if the switches are fine but the motor is not getting power then try this. find the two wires that go up to near the tailgate handle inside the tailgate. Ensure they DO NOT go to the Motor and strip a small amount of the casing on both so that the wires are exposed and not cut. Then run a wire that connects to both exposed wires. when this is done then try the switch again ( assuming the switch works) . If the switches are fine and the **** switch was to blame the motor should get power and move.

If the motor was getting power and not moving then what you will have to do is get a piece of wood or something that can support the weight of the window without falling out or down. then you will have to reach your hand into the tailgate and loosen the 3 bolts that hold the window motor on. with the window fully supported then you should be able to push or pry the window motor out of the gear that connects it to the window. then you can remove the motor and replace it. if you need to open your tailgate before you get a new motor then just get another person to remove the block or whatever was supporting the window while you hold it and gently let it down by holding onto the window on both sides of the tailgate latch.

if you have to drive around, with the motor out then LEAVE THE WINDOW DOWN, and be gentle.

the motor is the same as any 80's and 90's driver side window motor out of a truck at the scrap yard or they are $45 at Napa.

hope this fixes your problem

I highly recommend Steve83's documentation. It's the best I've seen. My tailgate window would not come down and without his documented photos I might still be trying to figure it out. In my case the motor would run but the window wouldn't move. The problem was a stripped window motor gear. Since the gear was stripped, I was able to push the window down by hand. I got the gear (new) from BroncoGraveYard.com. I had to remove the motor to replace the gear. Funny thing, when I re-installed the motor it would not run! After much analysis, and with the help of Steve83's documentation, I found that the tailgate latch safety switch (which prevents the motor from running unless the tailgate is closed) was not making good contact! Thanks again to Steve83.
