if you want really cheap, then cut or unbolt the old body mount bolts, (buy longerones of course) get one or two hockeypucks for each mount (drill a hole in the middle of each one). then lift up the body of the truck slide in the desired number of pucks for the lift you want. bolt the body back on with the new longer bolts.

presto 2 - 4 " body lift

for the cost of hardware and a bunch of hockeypucks

Some people say you need to extend your steering shaft and your tranny linkage, but I have a truck sitting out in my garage with a 3 inch body lift with the stock linkages not altered at all. My tranny linkage I just loosed the adjustment nut down by the tranny and tightened it after the lift was done. Not sure if yours has the linkage for the tranny or a cable. They did go to a cable in the 90's but I do not know when. You will have to modify you fan shroud because it will contact the fan at the bottom and the upper rad hose at the top. You will need the shroud or you will overheat alot. Hockey pucks are common for a cheap lift but the rubber deteriorates very quickly and you will find yourself in a world of trouble in no time. A body lift only costs around a hundred bucks and are dangerous enough. I wouldnt recommend trying to go any cheaper than that.

Body lift works good. I like them more for the increased chassis to body clearance and therefore more working room when I'm fixing something than anything else, but the side benefits of greater tire clearance and cool looks are nice too.

well i have few more ?'s about the lift. what do i need to replace the lower bushings while i'm doing the lift? i know i don't need a whole bushing kit. 2 i feel every bump in the road like i'm riding in a j33P, you know? will replacing the bushings help, if not what will? and finally am i facing any problem with bigger tires i.e stress on radius arms, or anything else?
