I am the proud owner of an 87 Ford Bronco full size. I want to put a manual transmission in it and im trying to figure out where to start. It has a 5.0L EFI motor in it. (thats going to change soon to. lol)

save the tranny swap for when you do the motor too if you can. if you change the kind of block it would be a waste of time to swap out to a manual tranny if you will need to find a different one to fit the new motor, if you just change to a different, 302, 351 or 300 I6 then you can use the same tranny.

converting to manual you need

A. tranny

B. Clutch/flywheel for 302

C. Clutch pedal, mounting braket, and hardware.

D. swap out the steering column to get rid of the auto shifter.

E. Cut cable from shifter to instrument panel to keep your current odometer and gauge cluster.

I don't know about the saftey switches for the auto and manual to keep the bronco from starting in gear. for that you will need to ask someone else.

find a manual donor bronco, f150 or f250 and start stealing parts

you don't have to swap out the steering column if you don't want to. it's kind of fun tripping people out when you grab the shifter and move it up and down and it does nothing.

but krafty is right if you are going to be swapping out the engine for anything then what he listed then the bellhousing is going to be different.

if you decide to keep the 5.0L or go to a 5.8 i'll send you a link to a zf swap i did on my bronco

Broncos are cheap enough to just find a good manual bronco, and have the luxury of two trucks.

I hardly have the luxury of having the ones that I have let alone buying one or two more broncos for kicks. when you have to choose between food or gas, and the gas wins, that makes for a ****** week
