Hi, new to the site. Bought my '90 Bronco a couple of months ago and the rear window hasnt worked effeciently since day 1. used to work every time with the key, and only half the time with the driver's switch. Now the window is up and neither control is working. I've taken the panel off thinking it was the motor, took the motor out and checked it by connecting wires to battery and it worked just fine. i've been told that i can manually lower the window enough to drop the tailgate. i would love to know how, then i can inspect for other causes of the problem like corroded wires and stuff.

Welcome to the Zone > The safest way to do it is to put the motor back in and jumper the motor. Attachecd is a window circuit diagram to aid in trouble shooting.

Note: There are two fuses involved and the return path for the grounded side of the motor is back thru the driver switch and grounded under the dash. The black and white wire should be hot at all times.

One of the most common problems that prevents the windoe from working from either switch is the safety switch in the left hand latch. Look at the position of the bolts that hold the regulator to the tail gate and see if they look like they have shifted toward the right side. If so, reposition it in it's original position. Also you may need to adjust the left striker to make the tail gate shut tighter. Another common problem is a broken wire at a connector or in the part that flexes between the quarter panel and tail gate.

Good luck,

:)>-

sounds good, but how do I jump the motor once it's back in? and who's to say it would make the motor pull the window down instead of trying to push it up?

Hook your jumpers to the motor leads before you put it back in. If the motor trys to go up, reverse the leads at the battery that will make it go in the oposite direction.
