Swapping out tailgates from 88 to 89 full size

I have a 89 bronco with a tailgate that really sucks. its got the exterior wheel holder so it is really loose. It also must have had a problem because the previous owner botched the wiring. its all packed with pigtails and electrical tape. I got an 88 with the internal tire mount, and its nice and tight, and never touched. is it easy to find a place where the wiring is plugged into something so I dont have to deal with pigtails and the like?

Here ya go, connector locations by RFR:

2 connectors & a grnd wire behind driver's side tail light lens (you can see wiring under it with tail gate open)

1 under bumper = believe this if also for he tg window defoster ckt - if installed...
