I'd use the pitman arm for the box that you're using. To be honest I've never compared them but I'm not for sure that the spline count is the same. Chances are the 89' box is in better shape than the 79' box. Just my $0.02.

I'M ALMOST SURE THERE THE SAME SPLINE COUNT,BUT AS BB78 WAS SAYING THE 89 BOX WOULD BE IN BETTER SHAPE...OR ATLEAST YOU'D THINK...WE TOOK A BOX OUT OF A 92 OR 93 EXPLORER AND IT WAS SAME STYLE AND SPLINE AS MY SON'S 88 BRONCO FIT PERFECT AND HAS A TIGHTER TURNING RADIUS NOW....HOPE THIS HELPS A LITTLE.....

I used my stock gearbox, and I think it had a drop pitman arm for a 4"-6" lift for the TTB. I made my drag link from the gearbox to the pass side, We shortened one that we had. The bar between the wheels was a mid 80's Chevy bar with the ends that are replaceable. just had to shorten it a little.
