I am currently in the process of restoring my '75. I just got down to removing the dash....and everything on/in it......when I ran into a glitch. I can't figure out how to remove the ignition switch???? I feel kinda dumb to have gotten this far and now find myself with this problem that should be so simple. But I can't figure out how it comes out.

I'd appreciate your help......and Happy New Year

Disconnect the ground cable, then turn key to Accessories and using a small wire depress the release pin on the lock cylinder. Turn key counterclockwise and pull key/lock assembly out of switch. From behind the panel, you should be able to press in on the rear of switch maybe 1/4 of turn counterclockwise, you should be able to remove bezel, switch, and spring. Then its just a matter of removing the accessory and gauge feed wires from terminals.

If you don't have the key does it still work the same way. I have just ordered a new ignition switch and don't have the key to the old one.

I doubt it.., the keyed portion needs to be turned to Acc. to line up the pin-hole.

A lock smith may have a trick.., or .. the new keyed portion is pretty cheap.., & comes with two keys.

I do believe you are at the drill the lock out stage. Drilling out the key pins will allow you to turn it with a ***** driver to the ACC position. Start with a small bit and run it down the key slot, about the length of the key. Increase the size of the bit till you can turn it with a ***** driver.

Good luck,

:)>-
