Quick help rain is coming.

I just changed out my tailgate motor and regulator. So after I finished and checked everything I went to close the tailgate. I forgot that I pushed half of the L Latch down so I could override the window safety, and now the tailgate is locked half closed with the window down of course. I tried pulling the push pull door lock rods and removing the tailgate handle assy. Nothing is releasing this half closed tailgate. I hope some one has a trick for me. Please any advice thanks Adam

Am I to understand that the tailgate is latched on one side only? If that is true, I would have someone pull up on the handle as another pushes on the tailgate from the inside. It is probably just jammed.

Had the same problem with my wife's trunk (of her car.....stop it!) Lots of pullin' and some swearin'

Ya the passenger side is flush as it should be, but the driver side (where I manually pushed one of the 2 latches down) is semi latched like half way closed. Problem is it won't release so I can close it properly. I try pulling the handle while trying to kick the tailgate down. Also tried that with rods inside the tailgate. It's always one thing or another I swear.

OK I got it I feel dumb of course! I just pulled as hard as I could out of anger probably. Tailgate almost threw me to the ground when it came down. haha
