I posted this in the wrong area I guess and hope you guys can lend me a hand.

I have a 78 Bronco. The tailgate is stuck, as in the linkage is busted and I can't really get to it because the back window is down. I can't get the back window up as the motor is toast, so I'm trying to figure out a way to get the window out and access to all the internals without losing my mind or shattering the glass.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

It has been a while since I removed my window, but I believe the 78 window is the same. First carefully pry off the weather stripping in the tail gate ao you don't bend it. Then remove the end seal (one ***** each). Open the access panel, and you will find the window attached with two (2) nuts per side. The ones on the right are a bit of a pain to get to, so if necessary use a hole saw and cut a hole in the sheet metal just above the nut, but I think you can do it without cutting a hole, just a pain.

Good luck,

:)>-

Sweetness. Thank you very much. The sun was going down yesterday when I finally got to that and I've been obsessing about how I could pull this off without losing my mind all morning.

Thanks again.

I just wanted to thank you again. Got the window out and the tailgate down in 15 minutes. Found quite a few snake skins too! If I lived further south, I'd be real hesitant about sticking my hands down in the tailgate only to find a ****** off snake!

On the topic of stuff found in the tailgate.

When i removed my access panel to replace the window motor, i found $20 in cash about $5 in change and a beer bottle full of sand. I was happy to recoup some $$ off the $75 for the motor lol.
