I'm trying to figure out what type of oil pan I need, and I can't seem to do it. The local auto parts isn't much help and the Ford dealer quoted me $145.00! The engine is either from a 78 f-150 or a 76 Bronco, and the distributor is in the front. It's a 302, and the pan I have has the well in the back near the tranny - but all online descriptions I find are saying front sump. Is this right? I figured if it says front sump, the deep part is near the front of the block not the back....

I feel like a bone head, but I can't seem to get a straight answer and $145 bucks seems WAAYYY crazy for a steel oil pan.

Holy cow! I think I will stick with the beater I have. The only reason I want to replace it is because some clown who had it before I did brazed a crappy crap load of brass all over the low oil tube in the side - and it looks like poo.

I guess in this case if ain't leakin' don't fix it.

Thanks for the info - that one looks just like mine. I am noticing that most of the parts on this block are from a 76 bronco, although the paperwork I have for it is from a 78 F-150....
