Looks nice now that it's finished. Oh, did I say finished ? What I *meant* was that now you can move on to then NEXT item on the list. Freaking things are never *finished*.I have posted a few times but never posted a picture of my project. Well, here it is...
Coolness. You're *never* finished but I guess that's the fun of it all.You know it... I am getting ready to order the "Altezza" taillights and the coffee can exhaust tip to go with the ******-balls that just showed up and the 8 ft tall spoiler that I had special made for me...
By the way, finished is not in my vocabulary. My house will never be finished, my 61 Falcon will never be finished, my Bronco has the same doomed fate...
Oh yeah, you just HAVE to love those Rancheros. That little straight 6-200 always turned me off to the Falcon Rancheros even though I had a good friend with a bada$$ early Falcon coupe we swapped a GT 5.0 into. I was always partial to Torinos (now I'm exposed as a Starsky & Hutch fan) so when I found a solid 74' with a blown Cleveland I knew I'd found a home for the 429 my father had been tripping over & cussing at for a year. In hindsight though, that L88 was probably unnecessary, but it seemed like a good idea at the time, and of course being the 80's you just HAD to have a bandana tied around your side mirror and one of those (ahem) "feathered clips" hanging from the rear-view.I totally hear you. My Ranchero caught fire once or twice as well and if memory suits me, one time had something to do with duct tape on a fuel line that had a crack in it. Yeah, dumb, but what was worse was the fact that after I got the fire out I actually put more duct tape on it to "fix" the leak so I could get home. Like you said, when you are sixteen, the stuff you do...... The Ranch made it and is still sitting in my driveway some 18 years later, sans duct tape that is....
My wife just shakes her head & calls me a Child of the 80's but man do I love those Torinos. You're not alone in wishing you had one to build (who BUYS a car like that ? All the fun is in building it). I've always liked those slotted rims too, I'd like to find a nice set in aluminum for the Bronco and a matching set for a Torino (chrome is for pimps)The motor that is in my Ranch is from a 70 Torino. Now I wish I had purchased the whole car instead of just the 302 and yes I am a Starsky and Hutch fan as well. If I ever find one in decent shape around here I am going to buy it.. "Feathered clip" I dont understand, never saw any of these, oh wait, maybe chicks used them as hair clips, right??? My Ranch (1961) now sports the built 302 and a C4 but it did come with the meager 170 inline 6 when I bought it back in the day but back in the late 80's I swapped in the 302.
Well, I was always partial to the blue feathers but that's it my man <grin>. The $hit we did when we were kids
Yeah man, you gotta CLIP those buggers down or you'll lose track of them.LOL, I was only kidding on not knowing what kind of clips they were... I was trying to pretend that I didnt know.... Too funny.. Anyways, I would love to build a torino just like the "Red-Tomato" if you remember that is what the captain used to call it on the show... Now I am dating myself... I would even go as far as the stripe and even get a gumball machine for the roof (for only entertaining my kid in my driveway of course). Did you see the write up in Hotrod when they talked about them building 50+ Torinos for the movie but only a handful actually had a build 351W in them to get the smoke shows and speed runs out of? Supposedly the rest were for crashing... I hated reading that but they said that there were quite a few left over after the filming that would go on the auction block at some point... Anyways, I better go see what is going on away from my desk, the "roaches" are getting kinda lively out there....
