OK so i have to rebuild my breaks. I have been putting it off for so long. THen acouple weeks ago i blew a line. My bronco sits most of the time. Been a project to learn from. So i can't just redo my lines cause the bleeder valve is almost nothing. So i think i need to go from the master all the way to the wheels. Now this is where i need help. I have been looking at parts all week. Now i got drub breaks in the back the disk in the front. Now if someone could just put up a list of everything i need to do the job, ie lines, calipar left and right. What i need to redo the drumbs. If u could help that would be great. Oh ya its a 94 XLT

Rob

p.s. if you got any good sites that would help 2. I have been looking at jeffs bronco grave yard. anyone got any better ones?

I think the AutoZone website should help you with what parts you may need to replace. You can also get most of them at the local parts store, like AutoZone, PEp Boys, Napa, etc. I'll see if I can find a link to post up, JSM84

If you post your year model, that would help, since there are some differences from the 78-86 to 87-up dealing with the anti-lock brakes. You might also consider upgrading to the F-350 booster and master cylinder for better stopping force.

Now I see, it's a 94 model.

The rear drum brakes generally last much longer than the front rotors and pads. When you remove the drums, check for a deep ridgeline or scoring, as well as the amount of material left on the shoes. IF the drums are gouged out due to the pads wearing down all the way to the rivets, you will have to have the drums machined at a brake shop or replaced. Along with the drums and shoes, you can get a brake spring and hardware kit to replace all those springs and parts holding the shoes in place. Replace the rear wheel cylinders, too.

The front is simple, you have a caliper, set of pads and the rotor. The rotor can be machined once or twice, but tend to get warped. They're cheap enough to often just replace, as are the calipers. On your 94, there may be a sensor for the ABS (anti-lock brakes system) mounted to the spindle, under the rotor.

At the firewall, you have the brake booster and the master cylinder. the lines from the MC connect to a proprtioning valve and brake switch. which regulates pressure front to back. I'm using an aftermarket one from JEG's that costs $40, instead of the OEM unit that runs about $300.

I agree, you don't want to get scr#^d and buy the wrong parts or more than you need. When you go to AutoZone or Checkers or wherever, look for the oldest, roughest dude in there and not the kid.

I replaced the entire brake system on my 84 Bronco when I swapped the 88 F-350 drivetrain into it. After attempting to make my own brake lines, I ended up buying mostly the pre-made lines in different lengths, then bending them with a line bending tool to fit. The AutoZone website is really good with tech help and pics on how to replace specific parts. I just replaced the rear wheel cylinders this past weekend. It wasn't eassy on the Sterling 10.25" axle. There is a special tool used to remove and install the springs holding the brake shoes, and you may be able to rent it for free from the autoparts store.
