how to install window felt

i just got all new window felt from bronco graveyard and none of the front vent window felts have the little flat hook at the bottom and they also dont have that oval hole that is about 1" long. i first tried the new felts without the hook but when the i rolled down the window it would take the whole felt with it and it would move down and out of the vent channel. well i took one of the flat hooks off the old felt and installed it on my new felt and when i installed it my rivots would prevent the window from going down. is there special rivots to use. and what is the oval hole for and how do i do it. and what order should i install the felts. thanks
