i have a problem gentleman...my tailgate switch inside works...my key switch does not...i tested the wires into the tailgate and i have power only to the yellow wire(defrost i think). my fuses are fine so where should i check for the constant power? i have no power locks or lumbar or all wheel drive....so now im stuck....should i just rewire it to the battery?

"Tailgate Switch Paddle

When the tailgate lock cylinder is turned, this paddle arm swings around & presses the appropriate switch button..."

often they wear out

Ground for the motor connects up front, & at rest runs from there through both switches & both wires to the motor.

-When either switch is operated, 1 side's ground is disconnected & replaced by hot.

-Ground for the motor is not connected to it's case, but supplied through the wires.

-There are seperate 2 power sources & 2 fuses for positive. 1 for each switch.

-The same 2 wires are used throughout for both up & down (Polarity is reversed by the switches).

The tailgate key switch and safety mechanism is all one assembly behind the outer skin.
