i have an 89 bII w/ auto trans and i need to replace the whole rear end after a wreck. anyone out there know anything about what i need to look for? ie: do i need the same year,same ratio,is there a diff between auto and manual diffs?

The ratio has to be the same only if its 4 wheel drive. You never stated whether yours was or not. There is no such thing as a manual or automatic diff. I am not sure what you are refering to but I assume you mean manual or automatic hubs on the front diff.
yes mine is 4wd w/manual hubs. i was asking if there was a difference in the gearing between man and auto in relation to the rear end ratio or otherwise, i don't know anything about this stuff. thanks.
Oh I get it. LOL. The diffs can have a few different gear options, depending on what the purchaser ordered, at the time of purchase. The ratio is stamped on a tag that is attached to the diff cover. They must be the same.

i have a whole parts b2 an 87 w /fwd $200 obo if you come and get it
thanks. if the only diff i can find is a different ratio how much of a job is it to change to the set in mine and how do i tell if mine was damaged?
mine is a 373 what is in yours? does the truck run or roll? where in jersey? i grew up in florham park (near madison and morristown) thanks

to tell you the truth i never looked at the axles or anthing
the motor runs just think somthing like a fuse blew when it was crashed . . . .. but the engines fine ,. . . .
im in salem county i think thats more south of morristown altho ive heard of it the chassis rolls the interior has been stripped . . .. . you can get most of you money back be selling the motor and tires. . . .. and just scrapping anything else you arent gonna use
