My 92 Bronco 4x4 was getting about 6 MPG maybe a bit more when I got it. After a few weeks of owning it and a couple of fill ups, I had a Flowmaster installed and a catalytic converter removed. In order for my bronco to pass smog in California I also had to change some sensors. After doing those changes, I filled up a few more times and I was getting 6.66 MPG all three times I filled up. After that I did a tune up and added E3-40 spark plugs, quaker torque syntethic oil, and a Heavy Duty fram oil filter. The last two fill ups I have gotten 6.9 MPG. I need to do better. My next step is to work on the intake, I was looking into a k&n filter that I can customise for the truck rather then buying the whole kit which runs around $200.

Does anyone know about the tornado and if it works? Do Broncos come with two catalytic converters? I also am planning on removing the top and adding a softtop to reduce weight.

I am planning on getting 4 inches lift and 33inch tires, but before that I need to bring that number way up, similiar to those numbers like the member who was getting 12 MPG.

I forgot to mention, My engine is a 351 with 280000

I have an '85 and I used to think that I should have got one at least a year older so I would have FI and get better mileage. When I first got it I was lucky if I got 3 mpg out of it. (351 with a Holly 4 barrel) But after a carb rebuilt and some new plugs I'm getting 11-12 with a NAPA filter if I drive it just on the light side. Guess I'll stop complaining.

I have been getting better mileage. I tried one of those tips in the post by SeaBronc. After the second fill up after my tune up I was getting 7.9MPG. I filled up Yesterday, I am getting 9.6MPG. All I did was added accetone to the gas tank. I am still working on getting the cold air intake and throttle body spacer installed.

a few Ideas in addition to those mentioned how about a shift kit (B&M makes a great one) and make sure your wheels have no brake drag good bearings in axles and so on and.....

what are some of you complaining for I get 204 per tank If I baby it when running the 33's and when running the 235/75r15 I get a max of 243 (know because thats when I ran out of gas) but the speedo is off with the bigger tires so is prob. around the same

we're getting 14.9 mpg now, primarily on a regular, almost daily 20 mile highway trip; there are about 12 traffic lights of which we stop at half; speed limit is 55 mph

We lightened the Bronco of about 100 lbs of crap and spend $ on prevent. maint. overkill.
