Sure, that can be done. I've put in a couple myself, the first one I did with the rivet-gun was pretty ugly but it worked and I also did one by just welding in some steel diamond-plate. The floorpans you purchase have the advantage of maintaining the original floor contour so you don't have tp mess around with the seat pedistals and your knees aren't riding up too high but any competant fabricator can easily reproduce the basic contour for you. The only real problem you'll run into is the fact that you WILL have to fabricate the original contour and that will take time, and when you're paying someone by the hour, well........ So sometimes it's actually cheaper to buy the floorpan new or hack one out of a donor truck because as expensive as you might think they are, paying someone for the *time* it will take to reproduce one gets expensive fast. It's cheap & easy to just weld, rivet or even bolt in flat-plate but without the wells for your feet you have these huge seat pedistals and your head is rubbing the roof, either that or you have to cut fred-flintstone holes in the floor for your feet & the pedals. If you don't maintain the factory contour then you have a whole new bunch of issues to deal with and if you DO maintain it then you have to PAY someone to reproduce it. I guess at the end of the day there really aren't any free lunches, you can pay now or you can pay later but one way or another you're gonna pay.whats the likelihood of getting someone to weld me a new foor pan as opposed to purchasing one? good idea? horrible idea?
