well i aint been on here in a while. i used to be on here everyday. school two jobs ant internet problems have kept me busy. anyhoo i picked up a dana80 rear and a dana60 front. soon a solid axle swap will happen. this was such a great find. some guy had a 2001 f-350 single wheel with 200,000 miles on it and he found a 7.3L diesel, transmission, transfer case, and both front and rear axle for $3000. all of this stuff only had 60,000 miles on it. so he put all that in his truk and he sold the axles to me just to cover the labor charge. picked them both up for $700. i just need to pick them up. but i feel a SAS coming soon!

hey there,

awhile ago i researched getting newer 1 ton running gear and i found a serious problem that roadblocked me and made me decide to NOT continue with the purchase

double check the bolt pattern on those new diffs

the whole problem with it, is that it is 8 on 170mm, so standard 8 lug wheels will not fit

and i searched all through canada and the usa to find someone that makes beadlocks for the metric sizing and absolutely no luck.

i don't want to cut down your build, just sharing some info with ya

i dont think he will have a problem for a newer truck, the axles are coming out of a 01.....but it wouldn't hurt to have the wheels is your hands before you started tearing things apart

Good find on the 1-ton axles. A 15" rim will fit, but needs the right backspacing to work. I tihnk the ones I have for the front have like 2" or 2.5" bs for the D60. When you're ready for beadlocks, take a look at the Hummer H1 rims instead. While they're quite heavy, they use an internal beadlock system for the 16.5" tires, either 36's or 37's. Keep us posted on the SAS, JSM84

I'm still not 100% sold on 2 things:

1. That a 15" rim will fit a Super Duty axle

2. That anyone makes a 15" rim with a 8x170mm bolt pattern

That is a good call to get H1 rims and have 8x170 inserts pressed into them :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Which kit did you get?

go to jeffs bronco graveyard.com and take a look at their SAS kits. it utilizes the coil over suspension. and yes like JSM84 stated the 8 lug wheels i have are backspaced 2.5". all i know is that when i jacked the axle up and stuck the wheel on there the bolt pattern was a match. i wont be going with bead locks on this truck as it is purely a street bi*ch. ive got other toys i can thrash off road.

Before you spend $1700 on the kit, check around and do some searching. The SAS forum at FullSizeBronco.com has extensive info on how to swap the D44/ D60 axle under your Bronco and at much less cost. And the 15' wheels I am refering to have a 8x6.5" bolt pattern for the older Dana60's. JSM84
