i have a 1989 ford b2 2.9L v6 fuel injected 2wd

about 1 year ago walmart is jacked up my last engine by not puting in the oil plug right i was 19 living own my own in florida so i didnt have any money to buy a new car but i did have engough moeny to buy an engine for $350 i didnt know any thing about cars or trucks i didnt even know what an alternater was at that point so i bought an haynes manual and i bought an engine that had about 75,000 miles on it and droped it in my B2 it took me like 3 weeks before i got done and it ran great well my best friend got in a car accdent in on the way back for colrodo in kansas so i went to go pick him up ran great the whole way there but on the way back about 30 miles from being back home in floirda my engine made this weird noise like those party spiner things and it smelt like gasoline bad i mean i was high bad my clothes were staind in the smell of gasoline. it took me 2 weeks to find out that it was my lower intakemanflod gasket. i kept reading about this truck i knew little facts and stuff so when i when to change my oil to my suprise my oil was mix with gasoinei diped a rag in to the oil pan and lit the rag i cought on fire so we could all aswome that that was really bad. but because i read that the only way for fuel to be in your oil in that amout would be lower intake mafold gasket. so i figureed if im going to replace lower intake mafold gasket i mile well replace all the gaskets form the heads up did all that and then the thing woulnt start so i just did have the time to figure it out and took to a shop THEY CHAGED ME $333 TO TIGHEN DOWN MY DISBUTER what the **** im kind of glad walmart screwed up my enigine cuz then i wouldnt know how to work on cars jesus christ

well its been about 3moths senes i did the worked on the enigine it souned great for 2 and half months but now it ticking its not knocking but its ticking i dont know if its bad or good i dont care i want to fix it cuz it makes my truck sould like its a POS. wat could it be and would would i need to do cuz i take good care of my truck so i dont like it ticking i even change my oil every 2800 miles not every 3000

PS srry for writing so much i figured out that you have to give people the whole story about ur car or truck for them to give you an idea what the problem could be.

WOW, good job...!

That ticking could be something as simple as a rocker arm nut loosened up.

Could be a sticky lifter... (pour in some Marvel Mystery Oil)

-or-

I've seen mechanical fuel pumps tick like that.

-worst case-

would be a cam lobe going flat, but kinda rare.

Take a piece of plastic pipe and use it like a stethoscope, one end to your ear and move the other around the engine to locate the exact position of the noise. If it is under the valve cover, remove it and check the lifters. It could be a leaky exhaust manifold or even a loose wire from the coil to the distributor, (noise caused by arcing across the gap.

Good luck,

:)>-

is the ticking a mechanical sound or a kind of slapping sound?

I would guess its the lifters. every 2.9 motor i have ever had ticked after 70 or 80 thousand miles. I just replace the cam, lifters and timing chain. it also brings back the lost horse power. but like it was mentioned before use a plastic tube and pinpoint the noise. thats is your best bet.

good luck
