Ok, here's whats up..an (aod) trans from an 89 falcon wound up in my 89 Bronco. So im getting one from a truck to rebuild.

When i do get another trans, is it at all possible to change out the output shaft?

Any suggestions on the best route to go when rebuilding the aod? Im not looking to go over the top with it, just looking for a dependable, durable application.

Should i go with stock/hi-performance/heavy-dudy?

What, if anything can i do to the valve body or pump?

Appreciate any suggestions...

yo!

I've been part of yard swaps too; dad and uncles would be in yards almost every weekend swapping engines like people swap pics on the net now..lol

This is what I have found about the AOD tail shafts;

"...The AOD used two tail-shaft lengths; a shorter one for passenger cars had an E0AP casting, and the shorter truck castings read F2TP. The longer tail shafts had an E0LP casting on the passenger cars and an E0TP on pickups..."

The Bronco/Ford F series 4x4 AOD has a diff. tail housing. Also, if you get an AOD from some cars, it could have a 2.2 to 1 first gear instead of a 2.4 by BlueBronco

Baumann is considered to have to qual parts; as well as advice.

Ken @ http://www.badshoeproductions.com/products.html has nice videos on rebuilding an AOD

I'd look for an overhaul book on ebay.

I'd go stock. Much ezier to diagnose any future problems. And with proper maintenance, it'll last.
