Hey guys im new to this forum. I live in Dallas, GA and just sold my 2005 f 250 supercrew 4x4 lariat and bought a 1988 ford Bronco. Im payment free and loving it! The bronco is a little rough but it gets me where I need to go. Here are some details about my ride:

-1988 Ford Bronco

-302 V8

-4x4 with manual locking hubs

-sitting stock with 32 11.50 bfg all terrains on stock wheels.

-straight pipe exhaust (with cat converter for emmisions).

Here are some things that are wrong with it:

-rear window wont go up or down

-exhaust leak

-hood is smashed

-grille is smashed

-front bumper is smashed

Here are some things I have done since I bought it:

-cut off the rusted out muffler and tailpipe

-put on new tailpipe with crome tip.

-replaced heater core.

Welcome to the Zone > . Can't help you with the smashed stuff, but the rear window is a common problem. It is easy determine if it is the motor or the circuit that runs it. A quick first check is to try pushing on the left side of the tailgate while turning the key switch. If it moves you may be able to correct it by changing the position of the latch stud. If not, then continue on from here. Remove the rear access panel, the motor wires run along the bottom, (one is red with yellow stripe and the other is yellow with red stripe). Using a battery and jumper wires hook one lead to each wire. If noting happens reverse the leads. I nothing still happens, then the motor is bad. If it moves up and down, then you have a connection problem. A diagram is attached:

Note there are two fuses involved, one for the driver switch and one for the tailgate door switch. A common problem with connections is the safety switch that is located in the left latch mechanism. remove the plug attached wires that are on the switch and install a wire jumper between the two wires. If that works then the problem is the switch and a common fix is to leave the jumper in and tape it up out of the way of the window. If that fails then move on to checking the wires from the tail gate to behind the left rear tail light, the constant bending may have broken one or you may have a bad connection, ( that is where the diagram comes in).

Good luck,

Thanks. I have tried pushing in on the tailgate and using the key switch. I also checked the two wires inside the acess panel and they were both hot according to my test light. I dont know if they should both be hot or not. I tried running a hot wire from the battery and i touched it to each of the contacts with no result. Do I need to run a ground to one contact and a hot to the other?
