86 engine help

ok heres the thing about 3 months ago i caught the wiring and vaccum hoses on fire(i know stupid mistake) but now i have had some help and we have rewired everything needed and redone all of the vaccum lines that where needed but now i am having trouble with it staying running we can pump the gas pedal about 2 times and it fires right up but unless we keep pumping the throtle the truck shut off we have managed to keep it running long enought to put a timing light on it and its in time. i bought most everything brand new for it except the carb i just rebuilt it. so some one please help me this is my everyday driver and i need it back on the road soon. thanks Michael. BTW it is a carbureted 351w

Have you checked to make sure choke is adjusted properly?

yea i did its electric choke and its working properly but if i unhook the choke and hold it almost shut the truck will stay running almost like its getting to much air

Ok guys thanks so much for the help I will give it a try anythings worth trying at this point
