76 alxle to a 73 will it work

i have a 73 front axle #350 d4ta-uc 603472-10 i want to swap the 76 front axle 350 d8ta-te 610049-5 will it work in the 73 i have an old friend that did the same thing and he said it didnt work he said **** put it 4wheel it will lock up on him will these happen to me to and if is there anything i can do to fix this

Hi SP., welcome....

Wellll.., it should be a direct bolt-in, (assuming you know for a "fact" it's out of a '76 Bronco) however, you can't trust the "tags" as who knows what ratio/gears are in a 30+ year old axle.

You must test & be sure they are the same as your rear gears.

I suspect that's what happened to your old friend.... :-B
