I have been looking to get an early bronco for some time and have looked at a number of them. I looked at a '77 but it has no smog on it and will need to be smoged here in California. I have looked at JBG and Tom's broncos but can't find anything for smog pumps etc. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance.

I thought that vehicles after "x" year didn't need to be tested?

Hi Brad..,

As Skitter mentioned, I think it's (calif) 20yrs. & longer/older don't req. a smog test.

Also, I don't think '77's had smog pumps.

But.., check me on both points.

Don't search but call.., Toms Br. parts or Wildhorses 4x4 there in Cal. & ask them what's required.

Okay, here is what I found out. Here in California '76 and '77 trucks need to be smoged. The '77 does have a smog pump and from what the guy at Wild Horses said, there is a lot of stuff to go on it. All the brackets and air cleaner will have to be found used which could be really difficult. He also said he wouldn't get a '76 or '77. At least here in California.

Good info..., thanks for the update.

One could find a donor veh. in a boneyard & collect all the smog stuff for a 76-77 but you would have to really know what to look for.

A "bone-stock" (Calif.) 76-77 would be OK to purchase.

Good luck with your search & let us know what you find.. >:D< <'>
