ok so i haven't picked up a haynes manual yet for the new bronco (only have three kicking around for the 80-96 broncos )
i had the truck out for it's first one last weekend and had to chase a small fire 4 times before finding the source
on the side of the trail we finally ripped apart my entire dash to find the one wire that kept catching on fire
it was part of the factory wiring harness, was red in colour, and a current carrying wire. it stated right on the wire "do not cut or splice"
it looked like it looped back onto itself and we couldn't find it come out anywhere under the hood
so taking a big chance, and well really no other choice we cut the wire. closed off the ends and started testing everything on my truck
to my surprise EVERYTHING still worked. truck started, wipers worked, stereo worked, headlights worked, heater worked.
so i can't for the life of me figure out what this wire is/was or what it controlled. my thought is that it may have had something to do with the original ignition system and the reason the truck still fired is cuz of the after market msd.
any thoughts would be greatly appreciated while i ponder this and get ready to go to can tire and get a haynes manual
