My dipstick says to use dexron II to comply with the warranty, I think the original warranty might have expired for my ol' 86 but I still am guessing dexron II is the stuff to use. Also should I use the same stuff the transfer case?

What is the difference between dexron I, II, III and mercon and whatnot?
