I was driving my 89 xlt on the highway when all of a sudden i lost power. it felt very slugish and it could not go more that 65 with the peddel floored. I stopped and popped the hood and it was making a wierd clicking noise. I checked the air box and my k&n was soaked with 10w30 and there was a puddel under my filter.

what is going on here?

check your pcv filter inside the air filter housing. It's a line that runs from your crankcase. Sometimes those things can get pretty dirty and the oil can come into the housing from the engine. You can pick those up pretty cheap from the parts store.

Kinda sounds like you broke a piston . My 89 did that same thing but it was when you ran it at high rpm,s at extended times ( highway ) and the blowby would pressurize the oilpan and force the oil out into the airbox . At anyrate you may want to start looking for another motor do a compression test that will tell all . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Not to worry my 1989 w/302 was doing the same thing!!! :-B I replaced the air filter that was full of Florida sand, Bugs, and Dragon Flies. I also changed the air filter below the main filter that feeds into the return tube to the drivers side valve cover. The next the thing I checked was my throttle cable which had about one inch of play in it thats alot of time on the road for a 1989 Bronco. I pulled all the slack in on the cable at my throttle peddle and secured it with zip strips better then duck tape. Pull the cable slack out at the peddle and tie about two zip strips around the cable to act like a washer. It worked great or you can buy a new cable and install it yorself. I just fixed it and took it out on the road and got it up to 80 mph and backed off even I can get a ticket from the FHP. It also had more pick up from the start. > If you dropped a piston if would run like crap from the start. :)
