Ill be doing mine this spring. The 79 is really bad for "speaker space" without surgery. Ill make some careful choices and hope for the best! 🤞
Good luck with yours!
Cheers!
This is just a sample of how crudded up it was in there. Yes, going back 2 gens I can imagine it's even worse. Audio just wasn't that big of a concern the further back ya go.

2-tone rolled over the 46K mi. mark a couple days back. On we go!
Edit- 2/8.... The new deck was too much for the Oem front speakers & fried one already. Here we go again. 🤷‍♂️

Today was Improvements for the 'bitter half'.
Now she can get in the vehicle w/o me having to help. A fair investment in time & effort.
Grab-handle is a Toyota leftover I had collecting dust for some time. Had to dismantle & blind-nut the a-pillar for that. Kind of a tricky op, but it's handled and stress tested. Not a exact color match, but close enough for a interesting contrast.
Step-bars were el cheapo ebay units that turned out to be ok. Good install instructions which made the chore a snap. Very solid mounting.

All accomplished this evening, last thing was button up the RH side. Got to the brake caliper and noticed a part of the piston was cracked. Well, that crack ended up being a Large chunk that came out in the shape of a triangle.....then a moment later, here comes the brake fluid beginning to seep out 🤬 (cue the Really bad words!) Damd composite crap they made the stuff out of. 👋💥💥💥 a product engineer again. That's another trip to the parts house.

Still too much snow and crap on the road, Frankie is still parked ☹️
A: Twist the front hub locks to the LOCK position
B: Move transfer case selector lever to 4H or use the push-button feature, if so equipped.
C: Continue to enjoy going everywhere at a reasonable speed. 😊

Funny!
Actually, mine has vacuum hubs and auto 4x4 so no action necessary!
However, they like to pour calcium chloride on the roads to de-ice (for those who dont know how to drive)
Frankie still has factory pain and is nearly rust free (floors included)
I had fully intended to drive it year round, but I can’t bring myself to watch it corrode away!
PS my winter beater is a 2011 mustang GT, so traction definitely is NOT the issue!
Cheers

That's too much tech! 😬
I tend to forget that the yankee hwy depts up north of the mason/dixon line still salt everything because of the real winters. Yea, no bueno on metal. That is a exemption, as opposed to having to delouse the undercarriage after every outing.
Max undercoating!
Figured you had a late model 4X something to get around with that's mostly corrosion-proof composites.
A 'stang for winter? I can see where that would be 'fun' to get around with. One with a AWD conversion like the Hoonigan express?
Kinda makes me 😐 to have mentioned that. Was really taken back when I heard about the Block-meister a couple years ago. Just didn't seem real that a snowmobile did him in like that after living life on the edge in so many other ways.
Those gymkhana videos will live forever.

It was a writeoff, BTW, its a ragtop as well! I sold of my parts broncos after Frankie was done and with the hyper inflated covid bs car market, I ended up in the stang for 0$ so I figured, what the —-! Here she isIMG_5595.jpeg

Also…RWD.
Some very off shore ice radials, and good to go.
You do have to sort of know how to drive…
Cheers
