Hey Jimbo, check the wires to the sensor near where they go by the park brake cable. (They used to rub through there a lot)
If you need to fix the wiring, make sure to twist them at least 9 twists per foot.
EMI really causes havoc in the old control system, (especially the trans!)
PS, heres a pict of the guy that ran just before us in round one. Had a huge backfire at the top end. 3”hole blown in the intake!

He was ok, some burns on his hands I heard.
Thank god for safety gear!

Good photo there, thx.
Yea, that's a pretty serious hiccup!
Reminds me of some of the stuff I've seen Worsham, Force and a few others end up contending with. 💥
Good thing he walked away from it.
The safety gear is there for a reason, especially when pushing the edge like that.
As a former track operator, Tech inspection should see to it.
The last time I was at my 'old haunt', a feller in a rig not too dissimilar to that did a instant 90* right close to the finish line and went into the retainer- nose straight up in the air and 1/2 gainer, and yea- the whole thing got airborne, somehow ended up back down on all 4 right side up. Pretty lucky and nothing short of amazing.
Sure made a heck of a mess out of the car.
Well, today was change out the rear axle Ss and & the dash is still lit up. Diag. shows a code 4
Not really sure if I need to replace the blasted valve just yet.
Not seeing anything obviously wore into on the wiring.
Did notice that the harness had sagged down on the park brake indicator connection so installed a anchor-zip tie to 'handle' that.

Nice fix on the harness. Sounds like a crazy ride for sure!
I’ve had a couple rough ones in my stock cars over the years for sura. As much as we whine about the tech process as racers, it would be very bad without it!

That 'ride' was one of those Wth?? 😳 sorta moments. Glad that was another one that walked away from it as well.
There have been incidents in the past where folks were not so lucky.

R&R rabs valve- dash lights Off! 😪
Still have a little air to bleed out, but will get there.
Road test- that motor is Weak.
Still in the hopper with this one.
Swapped out the auto-lock hubs for manuals.....and discovered that the front end on this thing is a quad-shocker.
Dang, gonna have to order 2 more shocks now.

Shocks done, made a po-boy disconnect for the front sway bar. Rear linkage will be a bit more involved, but can-do. Dug into the F4 block a bit more (good call)
Edit: Full overhaul- mains, cams & O.P. Might as well 'zero time' it. Waiting on parts now.
In the meantime, guess I'll toss a CB radio into the thing while all else is on hold.

Made a mailbox run with the wheez-bag jalopy motor once again. Sometimes the poor thing wants to run ok but eventually relapses back into a rolls-kinardly. May go ahead and put liability on it just to see if it'll make the 3 miles up the road to the liquid-gold station. The running gear seems to be working out the rigormortis ok.

All back together on the lower end, now for all the test-fitting on the topside stuff.

I got the oil filter set--lines and filter back on the 390. Now all I like is timing it. Get it started and let it run for awhile and hope things work out.

As hard as it was If I have a oil leak--I,ll take the mechanial line off and use the light gauge.

Itll get covered up with all the EFI junk, so there goes a lot of the bling. (sorta a shame, yeah)
Having fun with pushrod geometry for now. Had to get the machine shop guru involved, so should have that whooped by late tomorrow, then can put a intake & plenum on to start the mock-ups with the other components- ign coil, etc.
Kinda handy to have all that extra stuff to help get everything right before hand, that way it all drops in together & no back-pedalling once the swap is done.
A little further along on the mock-up....

So much for wishful thinking.
We order a set of pushrods and the supplier sends 15.
<g> 😑
The closer we get to the soviet union every single day. 😬
More hurry-up-and-wait
