ive got a 93 Bronco with the 5.8, well my problem is really weird...its about my turn signals...first symptom was my left blinker would work but the light wouldnt blink, then next my right signal would act like a mind of its own, sometimes work, sometimes wouldnt, then that symptom jumped the road to my left signal, and now iam at a point where neither of them work, nor light up...and yeah getting pulled over for no turn signal isnt something thats on my to-do list....any idea's of what the hecks going on here?! or is my truck just mad at me cause she hasnt been washed in a month? haha

Turn Signal & Flasher Trouble Shooting, General Source: by procarcare.com

Appears to be the Multifunction Switch (MFS), Check it out with this Testing & Wiring Diagram in 92-96 Source: by Steve83 (Steve, That dirty old truck) at SuperMotors.net

The MFS has 2 connectors; call em Top & Bottom, disconnect Top Connector and do da test.

Multifunction Switch (MFS) Replacement in a 96 Source: by boss (bossind, Steve) at 4x4 Preservation

Multifunction Switch (MFS) Replacement (SW5591- F8TZ13K359AB) in a 93 Source: by Kevin L at kevin-long.tripod.com via web.archive

If MFS is bad, get one from any 92-96 Bronco or Ford Truck bec as Steve wrote; They are electrically & functionally identical. Only the shape & finish of the stalk is different

yeah this is all for replacing...and no where on the list of symptoms did i see nuthing working at all
man he is tryin to help u out no reason to snap at him u can test all ur switches to see if they operate properly get a tester with noise control(beaps to let u know that it has power comin through) hook the black up to ground and touch red to every power point then turn the switch on one point a a time.like bright lights.first u have to fint the point for bright lights then touch black to ground and red to that point hit the switch if it beaps then that point is good.do this to every point.when u find one that doesnt beap when its suppose to then u have found the problem if the switch works correctly then start lookin at the wires.

I woulda copied & pasted the Exact Troubleshooting procedure here in my reply I posted;

Check it out with this Testing & Wiring Diagram in 92-96 Source: by Steve83 (Steve, That dirty old truck) at SuperMotors.net

BUT the doc is a pdf and I don't have the proper software to convert it to a file & copy the "TO TEST" info and paste it here.

So here is the doc..click on it to enlarge;

mfs-testing.jpg

95 bucking bronco took his time & effort to log-in and help you...test it w/a cheap self-powered tester, or as the doc describes; an Ohmeter which is for general automotive testing purposes, a multimeter set on OHMs

BTW, this TEST does not show symptoms; the first LINK I posted shows common problems and common solutions, so that we know for example, a fuse is ok...there was no corrosion in socket, ad nauseum....

And since your description was lacking...."...first symptom was my left blinker would work but the light wouldnt blink..." the blinker that works..is that the instrument panel's Blinker or the tail light?

and the last two Links I shows how to remove the MFS for your testing purposes.

Yeh Miesk pretty much covered it all and it is legal to drive without signal light just use your arm signals might be little cold but it is legal I believe in all 50 states.

Until you fix the issue..

remember the hand turn signals (often what bikers do)?

Arm straight out the window means you make a left hand turn. Arm out the window, but point up at the sky means you're making a right turn. Sucks but better than a ticket...

yee...hey i do have another question tho, i took the switch apart...as i said i cannot tell what is wrong with it, but is there anywhere i can find a diagram of how it is built/peiced together, i know to peice it together, but for some reason i have 2 springs...one goes under the emergency flasher button, but have no idea where the other one goes..maybe this is why it is malfunctioning

yo!

NP!

Look @ this; its for an 01 Explorer, but as Steve wrote; should be electrically & functionally identical to our years..

http://sites.google.com/site/mfs01explorer/

See the springs? one should be for da Lever; clean contacts as described and try; or get one cheap @ a yard with a return policy that doesn't cost you $.

If it's any consolation, that same multi function switch was used on multiple vehicles for several years by Ford, and I have changed countless amounts of them. (including my own). The Ford ones are rather pricey, but an aftermarket company called Wells sells them too now. If you can find a parts supplier by you that sells it, you may want to check the price on it. The junkyard ones tend to not be the greatest due to lack of use and moisture issues from missing windows/doors or whatever. But, if it works in a pinch, go for it.
