I have a 95 Bronco with TTB front axle. Especially when I park it in reverse the front wheels seem dramatically towed in at the top (approx. 1+ inch). If I lift the front on a jack and set it back down they sit straight again. One side is worse than the other.

The truck has only 64k origional miles. A 6 inch lift. The previous owner had 36x13.50 Swampers on it. I think he probably ran them for about 30k miles. They were worn extremely unevenly and the truck desperately needed an alignment.

Since then I have switched to 35" MTRs, and had it alligned.

When I lift the axle on a jack, and wiggle the tire and wheel, it wiggles about 1/2". Looking from behind the ball joints appear to be tight (no movement at all), but you can see the wheel move relative to the brake shield which remains stationary.

I am pretty sure it is not supposed to wiggle at all. The bearings don't make any noise when I am driving, and I just had the axle regeared, and no one brought any bearing problems to my attention.

Has anyone had a similar problem that can shed any light on how I can tighted, and straighten this system up.

Thanks

If you are sure your ball joints are good. You may want to try to retighten your bearing nuts.I have had mine come loose after a alingment job before.I just had my frontend dont about 6 months ago for the same problem. My tires were towed in at the top.Come to find out it was out of aligment of course. But I also had a bad upper and lower balljoint.May want to look at your front springs to .Make sure there not sagging.

Gotta go with the loose bearing nut. Especially if the wheel and brake rotor are moving and the backing plate is not. Fords love to do that for some reason.

do you have the stock pivot arms? or do you have the extended ones?

when you lift higher that 4 inches you run into an issue with the camber and alignment in general with the ttb

there is a sticky on it up towards the top

I still have the stock pivot arms. Would extended arms change camber or castor? I thought using extended arms would only gain more articulation.

click on the sticky for lifting the ttb suspension

when you lift it you get a problem where you increase the height on one part but leave another in the same place so it puts the tires at an angle

edit: i went back and read the article again heres what it says

On 4 inch lifts and greater, the only solution is to lower the axle and radius arm pivot points by installing longer brackets so that they are in their original position in relation to the wheels.

The TTB arms do not need to be changed. I am sure that the drop brackets have been no way to get 6" with out that part. TTB and alignment do not work well together adding a 6" does not help. Do not worry about the reverse issue. Check the bearing tightness and go from there with a good alignment shop.
