I understand a person can now match up newer transmissions to older ford Broncos. I would be interested in which 4 speed manual (4th being overdrive) transmission would fit in my 1969 302 and where can I get the adapter to match the transmission to the transfer case.

Fordfan,

If you are looking at the possibility of a trans swap, why limit yourself to a four speed....

One of the newest kits out is from advance adaptors, it uses the NV3550 from a j**p.

4:1 first gear and .78 overdrive fifth.

The trans will handle a stock to mild 302 or 351.(300ft lbs of torque)

Check out Jeff's Broncgraveyard site for details (or almost any of the other EB retailers)

The kit comes complete with all pieces that you will need including the trans.

Id go with either the nv4500 or the ford ZF both have lower first gear(5.61 for nv) and great over drive (.73) and both can handle plenty of torque. Advance makes the NV adapter and a kit for same. BC bronco sells the adapter for th zf. Id check them both out :))
