Looks like I'm going to go ahead and replace trans and transfer. both are leaking like a seive and the tranny is making a noise in 2 & 3 gears.I have shopped all the sites does anyone have any suggestions on where to buy the pair of these. I have come across them for about $500 with a $100 dollar core I also found one place for $585 with no core so I wont have shipping costs going back. If you have bought from someone in the last year I would appreciate some input.

Thanks

Mud

Hay Mud..., put your "locaton" in your profile.... it helps with "where to buy" questions.

I can tell you this.., lock your trannie in 1st gear prior to removing so as to prevent the output shaft un-caged roller bearings fr. droping into case.

ALSO... the same thing goes for the transfer....seperating it fr. the adaptor will allow bearings to drop into case.

Uncaged any bearings dont sound like much fun. My uncle runs a trannie shop that can do the work but I cannot pin him down on a price. The trannie sounds like a bearing is going out. No problems with the transfer, it may just need seals and cleaned up. I think I may push him a little harder for a ballark price. Having all the right equipment sure helps when doing a trans swap. I have heard the T-20 is a great transfer case.
