yo,

basic checks are: check fluid level and condition, pull codes, check vehicle speed sensor (VSS, or also called ABS sensor) on rear diff (Code 452), check Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)

codes - EEC-IV Troubleshooting for 88-95 by Steve via Havack (Ben P) at broncodata.com http://www.broncodata.com/tech/codes.htm

check vehicle speed sensor (VSS, or also called ABS sensor) on rear diff; see here for location pic http://www.supermotors.org/clubs/superford...s=27536#content

Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) pic & Operational Description & Parameters (click on Sensors) by Ryan M (Fireguy50) at fordfuelinjection.com - see

http://fordfuelinjection.com/index.php?p=33

info from the VSS feeds into PCM to determine shift points

tone ring in the 8.8 or your VSS may need cleaning - as Steve once wrote; "...pull it out, wipe off any metal filings, & put it back in. No need to change it, or dump the oil unless it's LOADED with filings..."
