when you have it rebuilt tell the guy to install all of the updates for the e4od. without those updates that tranny is kinda weak. i burnt up 2 of them while 4x4ing out here in the desert.

Besides the information that you get here... you may consider giving Bauman engineering a call and try picking their brains.http://www.becontrols.com/

Good luck with the rebuild/upgrade.

Baumann is a long-time well respected tranny parts company.

You are interested mostly in their E4OD Hard Parts Update Kit;

"The E4OD hard parts update kit contains all the necessary geartrain parts to update your 1996 and earlier E4OD to 1997 specifications. The kit includes: 6 Pinion Forward and 4 Pinion Overdrive Steel Planetary Carriers, Input Shaft, Center Support Shaft, Center Support Hub with Bearing, Forward ****** Bearing, Cup Plug, and Hub Gasket.Catalog Number: E4ODUPD for 1989 to 1996 E4OD $350.00"

btw, there were many E4OD upgrades by Ford over the years; I have most of them shown in my Bronco links site (see hot link below) as TSBs; I still need to add more that I have in my PC.
