I just bought a 1989 fullsize bronco. It has 33 x 12.50 tires on it with no lift. It feels a little unstable going down the road, and when i push on the back of the bumper with my foot the whole truck wiggles like a bowl of jello. My question is , is this normal with the bigger tires on there? Is there any thing I can do to make it handle better. Thanks.

Sounds to me like your shocks are shot. Cool thing is, shocks are fairly cheap! At least, cheaper than tires

Unless your tires are flat as flat can be..but I highly doubt it.

What brand tires do you have? I was interested in 33's but everyone says they rub without a lift...

There BF Goodrich tires no problems with rubbing. I was kinda thinking maybe shocks as well. This is my first vehicle with bigger tires on it didnt know for sure if the bigger tires with the smaller size rims causes instability going down the road being that its a higher center of gravity. Thanks

funny thing is i did the samething with my bronco and my dad 03 f150, both trucks did the samething ur bronco did. its more than likely not ur shocks mine are brand new i think its just the fact that u are pushin on the back of the truck in the center of it.it could be the tires but unless they are out of round or u had it sittin for awhile or somethin like that then it probably is not ur tires.i would look into ur tie rods or the steering gear box.it could be a number of things so like ive said before start with the simple stuff and work ur way to the harder things. hope u have success.

Front End Wander Front end wander is a condition that is noticed when the vehicle is driven in a straight ahead position with the wheel held in a firm position, but the vehicle wanders to either the right or left side. Front end alignment should be checked before any steering gear service is made.

NOTE: tire pressures should be checked before any other service is performed

Car Wanders Side-To-Side

PROBABLE CAUSE & REMEDY

Low tire pressure. Check and Inflate to recommended air pressure.

front wheel alignment setting Adjust

Worn Radius Arm Bushings. Replace da bushings

Worn tie rod ends. Replace

Worn shock absorbers. Replace shocks.

Loose wheel bearings. Adjust or replace bearings.

Worn pitman arm. Replace

The reason the truck moves like that when you push on the bumper is because the 33+ 12.5 tires have a large sidewall and is spungie so it flexes alot. The reason the truck walk's around on the road is that the larger tires dont fit into the normal size tire grooves in the road so the truck walks in and out of the smaller grooves and probaablly allitle help from some play in you steering box also.
