I am a bit confused about tire size. I have a stock (except the tires) 1995 XLT. The tires came with the truck and I have owned it about 3 yrs. I was going to get new tires soon anyway, but came out this morning and had a flat in the front passenger tire. I had already had this tire plugged like 4 times so I decided I would just replace it for safety reasons since I drive my daughter to daycare on the interstate. The current tires on the truck are 255/70R15. I was going to just replace the one, since I was really shooting for a lift before getting new tires, but decided to go ahead and replace all of them since this tire size seems to be difficult to find in my area without special ordering, and they were all pretty bad- again, safety. The guy at the tire place said the stock tires are 235/70R15. He said the largest tire they carried for a 15" rim was a 265/70R15 Dunlop Rover RV XT. Obviously they will fit because this I think would only be a 31" tire right? What size was stock on a 95? How much larger is this tire gonna be in diameter? Has anyone used this tire for occasional offroad use? Thanks in advance. These also had to be ordered but I can still cancel it if these tires are crap.
