timing on an 89, 302

i gotta play with the timing on my truck, is there anything i need to unplug so the computer dosen't keep advancing the timing while i'm doing it???

Yes, disconnect SPOUT connector & watch your fingers while timing.

your SPOUT connector is in front of distr. as Jem shows in this pic, via Steve:
