in doing a tie rod over conversion on a 79 will the quad shocks clear or can you only run them behind the spring? also with a 4" lift using trac bar drop and stock tracbar, do i need a drop pitman or an adjustable drag link or both to get the steering back paralell?

in an older fourwheeler magazine i saw an article about puttin the perfromance unlimited steering on a 69 bronco. they did the tie rod over conversion with the draglink on top of that. they did not move the location of the tracbar on the axle wont this cause bumpsteer since now that trac bar and draglink are at different angles and no longer parallel? i dont understand this it seems like you would have to raise the trac bar mount on the axle to get the steering corrected after the tie rod over conversion. any ideas???

I raised the trac bar mount on the axle end because the tie-rod crossed right in front of the stock mount. When raising it you might not need a drop trac bar bracket. I had to raise mine also because I have lots of suspension flex and the trac bar was hitting the diff cover.

On 79 trucks with the front shock might get in the way so I'd just run both behind the coil. An adjustable drag link will be needed if the steering is off in one way more than the other. You will know once its done.

How will this guy get the Patent on the product? People have been making that high steer arm bolted on top of the knuckle for years. Seems like a waste of time for the guy to patente the product when everone builds them in their garage and sells them to who ever.

Thats for sure, that setup will definately raise the steering! I like the flat top knucklesm, I need a pair. The first one I saw like this about 7 years back was on an old Jeep Cherokee. You can find them in the junk yard for $50 a pair "sometimes". Drill and tap the top of the knuckle add a 1" block on top and ream it where the tie-rod end goes in. No need to pay $100 per knuckle.

I would like to do a tie rod flip on my 78.I have the right reamer but some where

I saw bushings that had a taper on the outside that would go in the bottom of the knuckle and had a taper on the inside to guide the tie rod in.Does somebody know where I can find them.
