I'm 18 and new to Broncos. I currently drive a 96' Mustang GT. I'm thinking of selling my GT and getting a Bronco after I helped my brother restore an 86' Jeep CJ7. I'm looking at 1990 and newer with 100K miles or less. I just want to know how its going to hold up for me. It'll be a daily driver with weekend fun. I've found a lot of 351 Broncos. How well do they hold up? Thanks a bunch.

Welcome to the Zone > . Well, mine is 25 years old and still going strong. You do need to keep after it as far as rust goes. If you look at any Bronco they all rust in the same areas, not that Ford couldn't have solved that. It is solvable but takes a bit of work. If you have the money, be picky and really look the prospective bronco over. Check it for rust and use a magnet to check for the evidence of hidden problems covered over with bondo, put it in a plastic bag so it won't scratch the paint and see if there are areas it won't stick to. You don't have to go over the entire truck, just the normal rust areas.

Good luck on your decision,

:)>-

Welcome,

Like seabronc said be very picky about buying the vehicle. If you don't know a lot about mechanical stuff take someone with you who does. If you find a good bronco it might be worth taking it to a shop to have it checked out before you buy it. Good luck! :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Where are the normal rust spots? Door jams, tailgate?

I can't think of a better truck than a Bronco. I had a Ramcharger and a Blazer and they were both absolute crap. My current bronco has 209,*** miles and runs fantastic(out runs my buddies '93 F150 with the same drivetrain). As long as it was a well maintained vehicle and was owned by someone that knew a thing ot two (previous owner of mine had a ford mechanic for a dad :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> ) I think it's a deal. As far as rust I live in CA so we almost never see it :)) but check the bottom of the tailgate and the bottoms of the fenders for sure. The tailgate has two drain holes but after years of sitting and rain they can get clogged up and water sits. The fenders because road salt and road grime gets in the lip at the edges.

Hey penceman. Welcome! Just adding on to what the other posters said, be very careful and selective when shopping. Since the last new Bronco rolled off the assembly line over 12 years ago, anything you get is more likely than not to be trash. When I was shopping for mine, I found several that were newer (mine is a '93), but none that was as solid. It just needed a paint job, a tune up, and some TLC, all of which I was more than happy to provide. It had 102,000 miles on it and I got it for next to nothing ($4400 to be exact). Everyone who has had anything to do with it either wants it or raves about how great a truck it is. I found it online on Auto Trader. The only thing I didn't like about it initially was the fact that it had a loud Flowmaster exhaust system. I quickly grew to love that along with everything else about the truck. If a good Bronco is what you want, I'm here to tell you that if you get a good one, you will be sooooooo happy with it. Good luck in your search!
