That stuff under the hood

On newer cars, they have this black liner on the underside of the hood. It's a fire retardant/sound blocker.

I was thinking of getting some of this stuff new (thought about a mid 90s Bronco, but no) and install it on the firewall, wheel wells, and under the hood - Mostly to make the truck as quite as can be.

What's that stuff called, and any heat issues I may ecounter with it installed in places other than on the back side of the hood?
