Hi,

I have recently bought a 1990 Eddie Bower (column shift auto) and I'm having problems starting the truck when its cold. the starter is turning over the engine fine, but its like the injectors are not firing, I have pulled the plugs out ant they are firing, I am getting fuel up to the bleed point on the injector rail. and I'm now out of ideas!! once I finaslly get the truck started for the day (after two or three minutes of continually cranking) It starts up first kick. Has anyone seen this type of thing before? any suggestions are welcome. oh and one more thing it has only just started to happen now that the temperature has dropped off a bit.

thanks,

Chase

thanks for the reply, I have changed the fuel control relay as it was the only one that was not clicking upon start up but even with the new relay its still not clicking when turning over the engine. I have checked the plug for the relay and there is power to the yellow wire coming into it and the black wire has continuity to ground. is there anything I could be missing here? worth mentioning the truck sat for about a week before I replaced the relay when I f=irst put it in and turned it over the truck nearly fired on the first stroke.. anyhelp would be greatly appriciated

Chase,

I am having the exact same problem. Did not have this issue last year, started this year. I started another thread similar to this, with some more detail. Have you pulled the codes? I'm getting a 21 and 24, coolant and intake temp sensors. my ign circuit seems to be fine. please keep us updated.

check to make sure of spark. like the other guy said get a haynes manual and run the fuel and ignition tests.

my 89 f 150 would hardly ever start. after replacing some ignition parts it was my computer that was failing.

a computer with the same engine and tranny software out of the scrap yard and its started every time ever since.
