I'm trying to lower the glass in a 86 XLT. I can't use the key because it doesnt have a engine or most of the wiring is missing. Is there something i can unbolt or how does it open up???

Without the key your screwed, you half to take it apart in order for it to come down, it's not a fun experince trust me on that.

If you hook up the battery, the tailgate key should work as long as the fuses are good and the electrical connections are still hooked up.

You can also hook it up with a 12v power supply on the motor. One way it goes up. Switch the polarity and it goes down.
