Let me tell you one thing. The tailgates arent cheap. To buy just a new shell after market is about 250-275, and OEM is more. Does the stuff inside of your tailgate work? If so that is good, b/c all of those parts are expensive too. I actaully just swapped the tailgate on my 1983 Bronco. Mine was completly rusted through and the window woudlnt work, so i went to the Junk yard and luckly found one that was still good enough intact to put on. They charged me 140 for the whole thing without the glass. I took the regulator out of my old one, and the glass, and I swapped it into the new shell. It wasnt very hard to do myself. Im sure that if you had someone else do it for you it would be pretty darn expensive. good luck. if you have any other questions ask! b/c ive been through it once!

Mine is not rusted just dented up and still works fine but would like to get it

back to a good condition, I heard new shells are very pricey so I thought

maybe a good bodyshop guy could pull the dents out and make it look new again

although that may cost as much as a new shell, will have to take it in somewhere

and check

Thanks for the post

to get a body shop to do it will most likely end up costing MORE than an aftermarket shell. An OEM tailgate from broncograveyard runs(the last time I checked) about 900 bucks. an aftermarket will run you about 250. my boss got a dent out of his door through a body shop and ended up spendind over 1000. I picked up a tailgate for my 92 bronco from a junk yard with all the insides and the window for 30 dollars. your best bet is to get one from a junk yard.

man if all it is is dents then gets your self a ding king. people knock them all the time but let me tell you they work. as long as the dent doesnt have a crease in it. and get yourself some body filler and some sand paper. and do it yourself. you dont need to be a body expert to pull some dents and use body filler just read the instructions. a body shop is good when you need to be painted or have some extensive damage.
