Hello all

I have a 77 F-150 with the NP205 transfer case. My problem is on my frnt output shaft the nut that holds the driveshaft into the transfer case got stripped off. So I need to know the size/pitch of the shaft so I can retap it and get a new nut. I dont have access to my dial caliper or my pitch gauges so if anyone could help me it would be much appreciated.

I hate it when that happens. If I had my manuals and truck handy, I'd help you out but they woudn't fit in my seabag. Is it the nut that's stripped or the shaft?? If it's the shaft, you may have to replace it.

Shafts stripped and the nut is nowhere to be found. hmm always fun. hopefully my junkyard here will have a nut and i can dress the threads. i didnt know if they made a die that would fit this shaft anyways to retap it. could be interesting

You could always buy a thread file and dress the theads with that. They normally will have 8 differant pitches per file and should cover the pitch you need and a lot less cheaper then a die that you will use once. As for the nut, check with a tranny shop that rebuilds transfer case, they may be able to help you. Go to "Goggle" and type in NP 205 (if it is a 205), this pulls up all kinds of info.
